Ankara Fabric: How to buy it and the different types

HARARE – Ankara fabric got its name from a mispronunciation of the Capital or Ghana ACCRA which was central in popularizing this Dutch wax fabric. The fabric was trying to enter Indonesian markets and created a cheaper one, which was rejected by Indonesians but made its way into West African upper class and middle class culture.

#FESOChallenge: Brand New FESO Hair Mask Review

Afro-Hair, Beauty, Feso Hair Renewal, Product Reviews, Zimbabwe

HARARE – The sun is not being friendly to my strands as they have dried out so much lately thanks to the weather changes. One day is scorching Next its freezing.

So FESO has a new hair mask they have available at Curtleys Zimbabwe in Mt. Pleasant as a hair treatment. For $15 one gets the FESO treatment and blowdry at the saloon. So seeing the state of my strands I knew I needed to get it done.

Starting state, tangles and knots and extremely dry strands and hair that needed a moisture boost.

After two washes the FESO treatment was put on my scalp and dry strands. A deep condition for 20 minutes in a shower cap and in the drier using heat helped hair seep in the mask.

During the treatment I felt a cooling effect on my scalp from the mask which made the heat part of treatment bearable.

After 20 minutes I got a gentle rinse and my hair had transformed instantly softer and detangled.

Then it was my favourite part…the blow dry. Drying in sections with heat protectant serum, I realised the knots that had driven me crazy enough to the salon where an easy run through and no need for moisture boost before blow drying.

Another great thing is economical usage of the product. No need to use more than about three tablespoons of the product for an effective hair treatment, it really works as a little goes a long way (with the way my afro is big this is good news). This is unlike the need to drench hair in a treatment when you have super dry strands.

An observation is how my strands feel like they have reinforcement and are stronger than previous times I have gotten a blowdry after treatment.

Definitely the formula is doing something unlike others in the market. Even the plaiting of my strands is such a breeze. FESO does it again..winning formula.

To finish my blowdry I got myself some shea butter on my strands to seal in moisture.

For $15 one gets the FESO treatment and blowdry at the saloon. After seeing the state of my strands I knew I needed to get it done.

After two washes of shampoo, the FESO hair mask treatment was put on my scalp and dry strands.

A deep condition for 20 minutes in a shower cap and in the drier using heat helped hair and scalp seep in the mask. During the treatment I felt a cooling effect on my scalp from the mask which made the heat part of treatment bearable.

After 20 minutes I got a gentle rinse and my hair had transformed instantly softer and detangled. I was like woah…pain free. Knowing how much I dislike salon experiences with natural hair.

Then it was my favourite part…the blow dry. Drying it in sections with heat protectant serum, I realised the knots that had driven me crazy enough to the salon where an easy run through and no need for moisture boost before blow drying.

Another great thing is economical usage of the product. I used about three tablespoons of the product for an effective hair treatment, it really works as a little goes a long way (with the way my afro is big this is good news). This is unlike the need to drench hair in a treatment like other hair masks suggest when you have super dry strands.

An observation is how my strands feel like they have reinforcement and are stronger than previous times I have a blowdry after treatment.

Definitely the formula is doing something unlike others in the market. Even the plaiting of my strands is such a breeze. FESO does it again..winning formula, it takes one to experience this to get how awesome the feeling is.

To finish my blowdry I got myself some shea butter on my strands to seal in moisture.

This hair mask is going to give hair companies a run for their money. And of course after my protective style a FESO spray on the hair that is on the road to recovery and staying long.

#FESOChallenge Using FESO for natural hair care regime

Afro-Hair, Beauty, Feso Hair Renewal, Product Reviews, Zimbabwe

HARARE – Going natural was never a decision on health or the effects of relaxers on our health. FESO has updated my hair care regimen and its working out well…it helps that it is developed by a Trichologist specialising in African hair type, Dr. Kuda.

So when I started the journey with FESO I had gone through the same issues I incurred with my relaxed hair…excessive shedding and my fine hair would break.

Me today SEPT 2017 after my hair had too much growth put this style in myself.

So I was open to anything having used FESO it improved my hair thickness for my sister’s wedding hair…all natural.

THE RESULT…in a few months I have grown my hair from not so.healthy damaged neck length to armpit length. My hair is done by Curtleys Salon and Spa owned by the same business mogul and it has also been managed to get me with great protective styling options.

Through product and hair services Dr. Kuda is sponsoring my hair with product and hairstyles.

My Hair Care Regime:

  • My daily haircare involves the LOC method, spraying water on my hair (I add extra virgin oil or olive oil to it) + FESO Water and Oil hair growth spray + FESO shea on scalp and ends (I do this when my hair gets dry sometimes water does the trick). Massaging the scalp helps.
  • After every hectic hairstyle I do a Deep Conditioning Oil Treatment. Excessive drying occurs from use of extensions.
  • No microbraids and after my hairline suffers boxbraid drama I treat with FESO haircare.
  • I use Shampoo with teatree and olive oil added to treat the itch, The Moringa range with Schwarzkop shampoo which solves my scalp itch. I found sulphate free didnt solve my itch in scalp.
  • Protective styles that protect ends and chunky twists.
  • I dry my hair in sections and before wash I use detangler cream (Aunt Jackies Detangling lotion is boss!)

And picture evidence of my hair growth is here. You can see where I began back in April. The latest is August where I am arm pit length

xoxo

I have become extremely busy these days. Starting a new job with different challenges, daily battles with sexism can exhaust me. There is no reason for me to lose my hair because of all the stress.

Time to get my hair done can be scarce as time is not on my side. So here is what I do to protect my hair.

As part of my hair journey, I have been a fan of the growing communities on hair. Unfortunately there is a major disadvantage with online hair support groups I have figured out, even as a follower.

This past month I have been settling down in a new job. Yes the job that was my entrance in media at Sunday Mail has changed. It was a rather long and hard decision, okay maybe I WhatsApped my 4 friends who said GO GET IT GIRL!!!

So here is what I learned so far when I changed from the biggest newspaper brand in Zimbabwe to … well… somewhere unknown
