ZFW Day 2: Sibonile Chimanikire

Fashion, Zimbabwe Fashion Week

Sibonile Chimanikire, a Zimbabwean designer based in South Africa showcased her line at the Second day of Zimbabwe Fashion Week. The collection was very inspiring and lovely with hints of modern, chic, edgy and African influences. Her collection mixed cultures, textures, print, colour and materials in a tasteful way.

My favourite aspect was when she used beaded pieces: the horns head-gear, cap and the Peplum dress. The Africa shaped animal hide at the back of a jacket also gave an interesting feel of Modern African in the clothing. Here are a few other pieces I enjoyed.  (Photo Source: The Zimbo Jam )

Opening face, HOTT HARARE HUNK Tshirt was the opening, with the accessories being a Ndebele beaded Cap.

This was a great way to start the show, the model had the right attitude when he was on the runway.

The Peplum dress made with Ndebele Beading caught my attention, a way to follow a trend and use African culture. Afro-chic!

Sheer, sweetheart peplum dress was definitely a favourite of mine.

The POLICE uniform influences dress. This dress caused a lot of cheering as the model saluted. It filled the room with patriotism.

My lust-have is this police uniform dress. I am not sure if it will be legal to wear it in Zimbabwe with the police banning camouflage clothing once upon a time. However I am sure it is very wearable without facing arrest.
